State and LGA security spending
The administration equipped the Community Watch Corps and joint security operations with armoured personnel carriers, Hilux patrol vans and hundreds of motorcycles.
Reports put the fleet at 12 armoured personnel carriers and 65 Hilux vans in the first year. A later launch of ten APCs supported a joint police, army and Corps operation across eight LGAs.
Frontline operatives were also given Daylong motorcycles, bulletproof vests, helmets, walkie-talkies, drones for aerial surveillance, trackers and non-lethal tools. Corps offices were set up in strategic LGAs as coordination centres, and monthly logistics budgets keep fuel, allowances and emergency supplies flowing.
Together, the State Government and the 34 LGAs spent ₦36.87 billion on recruitment, training, equipment, allowances and field operations, according to the anniversary magazine.
