Executive order against thuggery and a multi-agency task force
The Miscreant Activities (Suppression) Order, 2026 set up the Kauraye and Thuggery Suppression Task Force and mobile courts for fast trials.
Governor Radda signed the Miscreant Activities (Suppression) Order, 2026 in April 2026, in response to rising gang violence, street thuggery and public disorder in urban centres. It was issued under Section 5(2) of the Constitution and relevant provisions of the Penal Code.
The order establishes the Katsina State Kauraye and Thuggery Suppression Task Force, which brings together the Police, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, the Community Watch Corps, the Hisbah Board, relevant ministries and ALGON. It is mandated to dismantle gang networks through intelligence-led operations, arrests and prosecution. The Attorney General is to work with the Chief Judge to set up mobile courts for these cases.
