1 MW solar plants at Danja, Ajiwa, Zobe and Funtua dams
Solar power for the state's major waterworks cuts diesel costs and keeps water flowing during grid outages.

Dams solarised
1 MW solar systems were installed at the Danja, Ajiwa, Zobe and Funtua dams. The waterworks are among the 11 public institutions connected to solar power under the state's renewable energy programme.
At Ajiwa, the state also procured an 80-kilowatt submersible pump and 121 valves, and installed a 7.5 MVA 33/11 kV transformer at the treatment plant.
Before installing solar plants, the department ran Environmental and Social Impact Assessments at the Ajiwa, Zobe and Danja dams. The magazine also reports a renewable-energy water supply component procured from Germany for the Ajiwa Water Treatment Plant.
