Under a ₦19.89 billion renewable energy programme, the state installed 20.1 MW of solar capacity and 10.1 MWh of battery storage, connecting 11 public institutions, including hospitals, waterworks and universities, to reliable power.

In October 2026 the state announced that its renewable energy capacity had passed 30 MW, as the Governor unveiled the Katsina State Climate Change Policy.

The largest installations are 2.3 MW of solar mini-grids at three critical facilities: 1 MW of solar with 1 MWh of battery storage at Government House, 1 MW with 600 kWh at the State Secretariat, and 300 kW with 300 kWh at General Hospital Katsina. The magazine puts these mini-grids at ₦3.85 billion.

Other systems on the power department's list include 300 kWp with 300 kWh at the Special Model Secondary School, Radda; 100 kWp with 120 kWh each at the GRA residence in Katsina, the radio transmission station in Dutsin-Ma and the Katsina State Government lodge in Asokoro, Abuja; 100 kWp and 40 kWp systems at the Directorate of ICT; and smaller systems at the SDGs office, the Department of Power and Energy, the Public Service Reform office and the State Infrastructure office.
