In October 2026 the Governor launched the Katsina-One-Tree Initiative (KT1T), which targets 11 million trees by 2030, beginning with two million in 2026. It covers all 34 LGAs and 6,652 Climate Intervention Areas.
Radda said the programme's success would be judged by the survival and maturity of planted trees, not by seedlings distributed. The state reports that earlier reforestation had already planted over a million trees.
