The ₦5.4 billion programme earmarks 40,000 goats for women. In each ward, ten women receive four goats each (one male and three female), and one large-scale farmer receives 50.
Distribution began in January 2025, and 14,450 women applied when the scheme was flagged off.
The anniversary magazine describes the programme as a ₦5.78 billion Goat Rearing Initiative distributing 32,490 goats through a ward-based model, with feed, mineral salt licks and husbandry inputs. A second component improves breeds through artificial insemination of 3,000 breeding goats at the Ladanawa Farm Centre, with pasture and animal housing.
