At its 18th regular meeting in December 2025, the State Executive Council approved a ₦30,000 allowance, paid every term, for teachers posted to rural areas. The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education said it would strengthen teachers' commitment and ease the cost of working in remote and insecure communities.
The council also approved Teachers' Development Training Centres in the Katsina, Daura and Funtua zones, to train primary and secondary teachers with resource persons from the state's higher institutions and retired educationists.
Save the Children International, which had backed the idea at a September 2025 summit funded by Education Cannot Wait, welcomed the decision.
