Empowerment programme, Bindawa
Speech by the Governor
As prepared for delivery. The words spoken on the day may differ slightly.
It is with immense joy and a profound sense of purpose that I stand before you today at this historic empowerment programme in Bindawa. I am deeply grateful to the Almighty Allah for granting me the opportunity to be here, not just as your Governor, but as a fellow citizen committed to our collective progress.
I extend my warmest greetings to the Chief Host, the Honourable Executive Chairman, Hon. Badaru Musa Giremawa, and his dedicated team. Your unwavering commitment to the development of Bindawa is evident in the successful organization of this event. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
To the 600 indigenes of Bindawa who are here today to receive cash disbursements, and to the 11 Councillors and 11 Ward Party Chairmen who will be receiving essential working equipment – grinding machines, butchers’ tools, sewing machines, and motorcycles – I say: welcome! This is your day, and it is a day that marks a new beginning.
This empowerment programme is not merely an act of charity; it is a strategic investment in the human capital of Bindawa. It is a direct response to the core principles of our administration’s blueprint: People-Centered Development, Economic Empowerment, and Grassroots Inclusion.
We understand that true development begins with empowering individuals. When we equip our people with the tools they need to succeed – whether it’s a sewing machine for a young woman to start her tailoring business, a motorcycle for a youth to become a reliable delivery agent, or a grinding machine for a family to process their grain – we are not just giving them assets. We are igniting entrepreneurship, fostering self-reliance, and building a foundation for sustainable economic growth right here in your communities.
The cash disbursement is designed to provide immediate relief and support for your families. But more importantly, it is seed capital. Use it wisely. Invest it in your businesses, in your children’s education, or in improving your homes. Let this money be the spark that lights the fire of your ambition.
To our Councilors and Ward Party Chairmen, these machines and motorcycles are not gifts; they are instruments of service. They are meant to enable you to better serve your constituents, to move more efficiently, and to connect more effectively with the people you represent. Your role is critical in bridging the gap between government and the grassroots. I urge you to use these resources to enhance your outreach and to ensure that no one in your ward is left behind.
Let me be clear: this programme is not an isolated event. It is part of a broader, ongoing strategy by my administration to uplift every community in Katsina State. From the construction of Special Model Secondary Schools to the rehabilitation of LGEA headquarters, from fish restocking initiatives to mass livestock vaccination campaigns, we are working tirelessly to build a state where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
Our success is measured not by the size of our projects, but by the impact on the lives of our people. Today, as we see smiles on the faces of our beneficiaries, we are reminded of why we do what we do. We are reminded that governance is about serving the people, about creating opportunities, and about building a future where every child can dream big and every adult can live with dignity.
I want to commend the entire team at the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, the Office of the Special Adviser on Poverty Alleviation, and all the agencies involved in making this programme a reality. Your coordination and diligence have ensured that this event runs smoothly and reaches those who need it most.
Finally, to the good people of Bindawa, I say this: Your potential is limitless. The tools you receive today are a testament to our belief in you. We believe in your resilience, your creativity, and your ability to transform your lives and your communities. Go forth and make us proud. Build your businesses, support your neighbours, and contribute to the prosperity of Bindawa and Katsina State.
Together, we will continue to build a Katsina that is strong, prosperous, and united. A Katsina where no one is left behind, and where every citizen has a stake in our shared future.
Thank you, and may the Almighty Allah continue to bless and guide us all.
