Distribution of hospital consumables and equipment donated by Baitulmaal Foundation

Speech by the Governor

As prepared for delivery. The words spoken on the day may differ slightly.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

It is with great pleasure that I join you today for this important occasion marking the distribution of hospital consumables and equipment donated by the Baitulmaal Foundation, as well as Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) equipment provided through the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Today’s event reflects the importance of partnership and collaboration in our collective effort to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to quality services for the people of Katsina State.

On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, I express our sincere appreciation to the Baitulmaal Foundation for this generous donation of 2 containers of medical equipment and comsumables. The consumables and equipment being distributed will support service delivery in our health facilities and provide our healthcare workers with additional tools to deliver better care to our people.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, the Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, through the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp), is distributing Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) equipment across the State. This important initiative is aimed at strengthening our healthcare facilities, improving access to quality emergency obstetric and newborn care services, and ultimately contributing to safer deliveries and better health outcomes for mothers and newborns in Katsina State.

The provision of this equipment will strengthen the capacity of our health facilities to respond to obstetric and newborn emergencies and support our healthcare professionals in providing timely and effective care.

This intervention also builds on the efforts of our administration to improve healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across the State. Our health institutions including General Hospitals Funtua, Malumfashi, Daura, Kankia, Kurfi and Turai Yar’adua have previously benefited from the distribution of hospital equipment through collaboration with Project CURE Programme and the World Medical Relief (WMR) Programme, which have contributed to improving the availability of essential equipment in our facilities.

We remain committed to sustained investment in the health sector and also continued to strengthen the capacity of the Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency to ensure the efficient procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and other essential health commodities across Katsina State.

Distinguished guests, the success of these interventions depends not only on the availability of resources but also on their effective management and utilisation. I therefore urge the management of all benefiting health facilities to ensure that the equipment and consumables are properly received, documented, maintained, and utilised strictly for their intended purposes.

Let me once again express my profound appreciation to the Baitulmaal Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and all our partners for their continued support and collaboration. I also commend the Ministry of Health, the Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency, and all stakeholders involved in making this distribution possible.

On this note, it is my honour and privilege to officially flag off the distribution of hospital consumables and equipment donated by the Baitulmaal Foundation, as well as the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) equipment being distributed through the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp), under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, to all the benefiting health facilities across Katsina State.

Thank you, and may Almighty Allah bless you all.

May Almighty Allah bless Katsina State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Wassalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
