Commissioning of the 19 km Marabar Musawa–Gingin–Tabanni–Kano Border Road

Speech by the Governor

As prepared for delivery. The words spoken on the day may differ slightly.

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today to commission the newly completed 19-kilometre double coat surface dressed road, linking Marabar Musawa-Gingin-Tabanni-Kano State border.

This is not just a road; it is a pathway to economic empowerment, social integration, and regional development. This road serves as a vital artery for the people of this region, the majority of whom are hardworking farmers, whose access to markets, services, and opportunities has long been hindered by poor road infrastructure.

This road was originally awarded in 2017 with an estimated cost of 2.15 billion naira and a completion timeline of 14 months, this project unfortunately faced delays and was left uncompleted. However, under our administration’s renewed commitment to infrastructure development, we reviewed the project in December 2024 and ensured its completion at the revised cost of 3.84 billion naira.

This road was previously a virgin terrain, marked by severe gully erosion and challenging topography. Today, we have not only completed the road but also constructed a durable bridge, linking Katsina State to neighbouring Kano State. This connectivity will foster inter-state trade, ease of movement, and agricultural development across borders.

Our administration remains committed to revitalizing rural infrastructure because we believe that development must be inclusive and far-reaching. We will continue to invest in projects that directly impact the lives of our people, particularly in the rural areas where the need is greatest.

Let me commend the Ministry of Works, the contractors (GCG Nigeria Ltd), the engineers, community stakeholders, and all those who played a role in making this project a reality. Your dedication and cooperation made this milestone possible.

To the good people of Marabar Musawa, Gingin, Tabanni, and neighbouring communities, I urge you to take ownership of this infrastructure. Protect it, preserve it, and ensure it serves generations to come.

This road is a testament to what we can achieve when vision, commitment, and collaboration come together. Let it be a symbol of our collective journey toward progress, unity, and prosperity.

Thank you, and may God bless Katsina State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
