Closing of the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream I NYSC orientation course

It gives me great pleasure to be here today to witness this important occasion, the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream 'I' Orientation Course which marks the end of your three weeks stay in the Camp.

I wish to first of all congratulate you on the successful completion of the programme and to appreciate your patience, perseverance and patriotic spirit, having endured the rigours of drills, physical training and other regimented aspects of the Orientation Course. I also wish all of you success in your future endeavours and implore you to exhibit high sense of professionalism and distinguish yourselves in your service to humanity. I am aware of the high sense of discipline and responsibility you exhibited vis-à-vis the rules and regulations guiding the operation of the Orientation Camp. I am also aware that you participated actively in the Camp activities devoid of rancor and dissent. This is indeed a clear demonstration and testimony of your willingness to render selfless service to your dear fatherland.

My dear compatriots, may I once again implore you to dedicate yourself with your renewed vigor, conviction and commitment to the progress of our dear nation. You must at all times dedicate and avail yourselves as agent of change and symbol of national unity and integration. The present administration has given absolute attention to the security of the people. The challenges being faced in security arena nationwide necessitated the jerking up of Government spending on this precarious societal venture. I must therefore use this occasion to remind you that wherever you may eventually find yourselves be security conscious and report any suspicious movement around you to the Security Agencies though perfect security can only come from the Almighty God. I enjoin you to take seriously the security tips contained in the pamphlets which have been packaged for you by the NYSC Management.

It is pertinent to state that as a matter of policy, 75% of you will be posted to Rural Areas where a large number of Nigerians live and your services are mostly needed in those areas. I therefore appeal to you to accept your posting in good faith.

Invited Guests, members of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen, the present Administration attaches great importance to the wellbeing and future of our youths whose contributions to our coming into Government cannot be over emphasized. We shall reciprocate this gesture by providing improvement in the Education, Agriculture, Empowerment and Health Sectors. I feel humbled with all modesty to announce that since coming into office we have undertaken necessary measures aimed at restoring sanity in both State and Local Governments administration in the State.

Finally, I wish to call on my Corps Members to be responsible and disciplined citizens of this great country. Please shun any criminal activities, political violence and religious intolerance. Be guided by the motto of the Scheme "Service and Humanity". You must make concerted efforts to bring a new lease of life to your host communities in particular and the nation at large.

Thank you all and I wish all of you safe trip back to your respective destinations.
