9th annual Ramadan programme of the Gwagware Foundation
Speech by the Governor
As prepared for delivery. The words spoken on the day may differ slightly.
It is with immense gratitude to Almighty Allah that I stand before you today at this momentous occasion, the 9th Annual Ramadan Program. This event is not just a tradition but a testament to our collective commitment to the well-being of our people, especially the orphans and the less privileged. Today, we witness a gathering that embodies the spirit of compassion, generosity, and development, as we distribute food items to those in need, launch a fundraising appeal for the construction of 10 new classrooms complete with furniture, and inaugurate the newly constructed 1,000-capacity conference hall named after the late Barebari Umaru Radda.
This noble initiative, which I have had the privilege of sponsoring for over nine years, even before assuming office as the Governor of Katsina State, is driven by my deep commitment to serving humanity, especially orphans, the less privileged and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
I extend my sincere appreciation to all those who have contributed to making this event a reality, including the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and well-meaning individuals who continue to support humanitarian initiatives across our state. Your dedication to improving the lives of our people is truly commendable.
I also wish to acknowledge the memory of our beloved father, the late Barebari Umaru Radda, a great son of Katsina State whose legacy we honor today. Naming this 1,000-capacity conference hall after him is a fitting tribute to his contributions to our society, and I pray that his soul continues to rest in peace. The holy month of Ramadan reminds us of the virtues of kindness, charity, and selflessness. As we distribute food items to orphans and the less privileged, we reaffirm our duty to care for the vulnerable members of our community. This gesture is not just about providing sustenance but about sharing hope and reinforcing the bonds of brotherhood and unity.
Education remains a top priority for our administration, and today, as we launch the fundraising appeal for the construction of 10 new classrooms, we take another step towards improving access to quality education for our children. These classrooms, fully equipped with furniture, will provide a conducive learning environment and ensure that our young ones receive the knowledge and skills they need to build a brighter future.
I call upon well-meaning individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to support this noble cause. Investing in education is investing in the future of our state, and together, we can make a lasting impact.
Another highlight of today's event is the commissioning of the newly constructed 1,000-capacity conference hall. This facility, named after the late Barebari Umaru Radda, will serve as a center for intellectual discourse, community engagements, and developmental programs. It is a symbol of progress and unity, and I am confident that it will be put to good use for the benefit of all.
As a government, we remain committed to initiatives that uplift our people and drive sustainable development in Katsina State. We will continue to support programs that address poverty, promote education, and improve the overall well-being of our citizens. Our doors remain open to collaborations that foster growth and positive change.
To the beneficiaries of today’s food distribution, I urge you to remain hopeful and steadfast. To those contributing to the classroom construction project, I thank you for your generosity and encourage more people to participate. And to all citizens of Katsina State, let us continue to uphold the values of compassion and unity that define us as a people.
Once again, I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a success. May Allah reward your efforts abundantly and bless our state with peace, prosperity, and continued progress.
I wish all of you safe trip back to your respective destinations. Long live Katsina State and long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
