Swearing-in of 2024 Batch 'B' Stream I corps members

I am highly pleased to be here on this occasion of the formal opening and swearing-in-ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members deployed to Katsina state. Today will go down in history as a landmark event, particularly with the commencement of your individual and collective resolve to discharge an important obligation concerning the services to our dear nation. On behalf of the Government and good people of Katsina State, I welcome you warmly and urge you to feel at home. We in Katsina State are NYSC friendly and I want to assure you of a conducive atmosphere throughout your service year. I have no doubt that you will find Katsina State a home away from home as our people are generally receptive and accommodating.

My dear Corps Members, I will like to remind you that the Orientation programme marks a very important segment of the service year as it provides the platform for your physical, emotional and psychological reconditioning to enable you meet the challenges of the service year and beyond. It will enable you to transit smoothly from your hitherto enclosed academic environment into the larger society.

In the course of this orientation exercise, you will be introduced to various issues bordering on good governance, national security and development as well as the economy. You will be exposed to aspect of culture, tradition and some paramilitary exercise. These are designed to adequately prepare your body and mind for effective and productive participation in the on-going efforts of accelerating national development. It is on this note that I implore yore you all to participate actively in all the orientation camp activities.

Gentlemen Corps Members, I wish to place on record our appreciation of the contributions of Corps Members in the development of Katsina State especially in the areas of Community Development Service (CDS) projects and augmenting the manpower need in our Schools and Healthcare sectors.

Invited Guests, members of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen, the present Administration attaches great importance to the well-being and future of our youths whose contributions to our coming into Government cannot be over emphasized. We shall reciprocate this gesture by providing improvement in the Education, Agriculture, Empowerment and Health Sectors.

My administration has given absolute attention to the security of the people. The challenges being faced in security arena nationwide necessitated the jerking up of Government spending on this precarious societal venture. I must therefore use this occasion to remind you that wherever you may eventually find yourselves be security conscious and report any suspicious movement around you to the Security Agencies though perfect security can only come from the Almighty God. I enjoin you to take seriously the security tips contained in the pamphlets which have been packaged for you by the NYSC Management.

I challenge you therefore to live up to the standard already set by your predecessors to the progress and development of Katsina State and the nation in general. It is my firm belief that the Orientation programme will equip you for this great task. The programme should stipulate and facilitate your analysis of the wholesome aspiration and socio-economic demands of our great country.

My Distinguished Corps Members, no matter the situation you may find yourselves during the service year. I urge you to see this rare opportunity of your call to service as a mark of honour a recognition of your worth to the fatherland.

Let me reiterate that during your stay in this camp and throughout your service year, you are to shun cultism, political as well as religious intolerance or any other form of anti-social behavior. You are to be guided by the motto of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme which is service and humanity bearing in mind the oath of allegiance you have sown to uphold. All hands must be on deck to move this nation forward.

In conclusion, I wish you a successful orientation course and a rewarding service year.
