Launch of Rumbun Sauki

Jawabin Gwamna

Kamar yadda aka shirya gabatar da shi. Kalmomin da aka faɗa a ranar na iya ɗan bambanta.

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of duty that I stand before you today to officially launch ‘Rumbun Sauki’, a critical intervention by this administration aimed at providing relief to our people amidst the rising cost of essential goods and commodities.

We are all aware of the economic challenges facing our country, and more specifically, how they affect the daily lives of our citizens. The increasing cost of food has placed a burden on families, particularly government workers, retirees, and our senior citizens. As a responsible government, we cannot and will not stand by while our people struggle to afford basic necessities.

Rumbun Sauki is a direct and deliberate response to these economic realities. It is a structured food subsidy program designed to ease the burden on our people by making staple food items, Rice, Flour, Maize Flour, and Spaghetti, more affordable through a 10% subsidy. This initiative represents a significant investment of N4Billion, reflecting our commitment to enhancing food security and economic stability across Katsina State.

Our goal is to ensure that this initiative benefits the people it is designed for. To achieve this, we have put in place mechanisms that will prevent mismanagement and ensure accountability. Beneficiaries, including state and local government workers, local education authority staff, and citizens aged 60 and above, will have access to these subsidized commodities, but with a structured limit of one-third of their monthly earnings or pension. This approach guarantees fairness, prevents hoarding, and ensures that as many deserving citizens as possible benefit from the program.

We are starting this initiative with seven centers: three in Katsina, and two each in Daura and Funtua senatorial zones. However, our vision is much broader. As we monitor its implementation and impact, we are committed to expanding ‘Rumbun Sauki’ across all 34 local government areas of Katsina State. This is just the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen food security and provide direct support to the people of Katsina.

This initiative is the result of collective effort, planning, and dedication. I want to specially recognize Engr. Yakubu Nuhu Danja, the Special Adviser on Rural Economy, and his team, for their commitment to ensuring the successful rollout of this programme. Their efforts, alongside other stakeholders, have been crucial in bringing ‘Rumbun Sauki’ to this stage.

I also extend my appreciation to all members of the State Executive Council for their support in approving this initiative and ensuring its successful implementation. Together, we are building a Katsina State where no citizen is left behind.

To the people of Katsina, this program is for you. It is designed to support you during these difficult times and ensure that food remains within reach for every household. I urge you to make responsible use of this initiative, follow the guidelines, and work with us to ensure its sustainability.

As a government, we remain committed to policies and programs that improve the welfare of our people. ‘Rumbun Sauki’ is just one of many initiatives we will continue to roll out to support economic growth, improve livelihoods, and create opportunities for our citizens.

With Allah’s guidance and our collective determination, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Katsina State in sha Allah.

Thank you, and may Allah bless Katsina State. Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
