Inaugural meeting of the State Executive Council

Let me start by giving thanks to the Almighty Allah (SWT) for letting us witness yet another historic day in the life of this administration. I have the pleasure to welcome you all to the inaugural meeting of the State Executive Council. It is a record that each of you was chosen in the firm believe that he is diligently serve the people of Katsina State, hence,together we can put in our best towards moving our great State forward.

As members of the State Executive Council, we should first and foremost put the fear of Allah (SWT) in whatever we do and also bear in mind that Allah (SWT) has chosen us amongst many not that we are the best but it is an opportunity for us to our fatherland. Therefore we should ensure that whatever we discuss and agree during Council meetings are of great benefit to the people of Katsina State, as you are all aware the citizens of Katsina State expect a great deal from us considering the caliber of the members of the State Executive Council and our electoral promises to them.

I have the pleasure to inform you that the State Executive Council is the highest advisory/decision making body of the State Government, where top level important and critical decisions of the government are deliberated and vital decisions arrived at. Therefore, this calls for absolute dedication and commitment from all of us towards ensuring that we achieve the administration's set out goals and objectives.

Some of you are coming into Government circle for the first time with that, in view, arrangements are being put in place to conduct a retreat for us to fully come to terms with the nitty and gritty of the workings of government. In the mean time we shall try our best to ensure we deliver on our set goals and objectives.

I wish to draw your attention upon being appointed we each swore an Oath of Allegiance and Office which principally amongst others ties us to an oath of secrecy that has become binding on each and every one of us here. It is therefore expected what when we deliberate and decide here should stay here. Any information going out should be by authority.

Decisions taken or arrived at during Council meetings are collective and binding may, hence we should therefore not claim or disclaim responsibility. You are to note that and attendance is vital and mandatory, even if on is to be absent to meetings has become necessary, Council must be

notified through proper procedure and the particular member's Permanent Secretary must attend the meeting on behalf of the affected member.

As you are aware we have only four (4) years to deliver our mandate, the Government has a lot of intended policies and programmes that we intends to carry out within the life span of the administration and must of these issues will be coming to the Council, therefore members must be ready to deliver results on every assignment given to them within the stipulated time frame. Information is very vital to the smooth conduct affairs of the Council, it is therefore, important for members to brief Council with accurate information as regards to projects or programs under your supervision.

Members are expected to note that it is vital for each of you carry along the staff is his or her organization in the conduct in running of the affairs of his or her office. Open avenues to discuss with your subordinates, do not underestimate or undervalue suggestions or advices willing offered, the little information you might receive might turn out to be of great help to the Government. Ensure that you all establish harmonious working relationship with your subordinates. Likewise my door is always open to any member wishing to discuss issues that will help us towards achieving our desired goals and objectives. Members should also be prepared as at any moment I might call upon them to brief me on the state of affairs concerning their areas of jurisdiction.

Once again I welcome you all and pray for Allah's guidance and thank you for accepting to come on board in our journey towards making Katsina State better than we met it.
