Groundbreaking of the Mashi township road dualisation

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

It gives me immense pleasure to join you today for the ground-breaking ceremony of the Construction and Dualization of the 3-kilometre Mashi Township Road along the Katsina–Daura axis. I thank Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to witness yet another milestone in our collective journey towards building a more prosperous and developed Katsina State.

Today is not merely the commencement of another road project; it is the beginning of a strategic investment in the economic future of Mashi Local Government Area and Katsina State at large. This project, valued at ₦5.4 billion, will be executed by M/S Mothercat Nigeria Limited under the supervision of the Katsina State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.

As we are all aware, Mashi Town occupies a unique position in the commercial life of Katsina State. It is home to one of the state's largest and busiest markets, attracting traders, farmers, transporters, and customers from across Katsina State and beyond. The market serves as a major centre for the exchange of agricultural produce, livestock, and other commodities, making it a vital driver of economic activities in this region.

However, the growing volume of commercial activities has also increased traffic congestion, particularly along this important Katsina–Daura corridor. The construction and dualization of this road will significantly ease traffic flow, improve access to the market, reduce travel time, lower transportation costs, enhance road safety, and create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

This project is therefore not just about constructing a road; it is about strengthening commerce, supporting agriculture, creating employment opportunities, encouraging investment, and improving the quality of life of our people.

Distinguished guests, this project forms part of our Urban Renewal Programme under the "Building Your Future Agenda," through which our administration is transforming urban infrastructure across the state. Our vision is to build modern, functional, and economically vibrant towns with quality roads, efficient drainage systems, reliable street lighting, and improved public infrastructure that will support sustainable development for generations to come.

Since assuming office, our administration has remained steadfast in prioritising infrastructure development because we recognise that quality infrastructure is the foundation of economic prosperity. Across Katsina State, we are constructing, rehabilitating, and upgrading roads that connect communities, facilitate trade, improve access to schools and healthcare facilities, and stimulate economic growth.

We are determined to ensure that every Local Government Area benefits from meaningful development irrespective of location. Every project we execute is carefully selected based on its potential to improve the lives of our citizens and contribute to the long-term prosperity of our state.

I wish to commend the Honourable Commissioner, the management and staff of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport for their dedication in ensuring that government projects are properly designed, supervised, and executed according to specification.

I also commend M/S Mothercat Nigeria Limited and urge the company to maintain the highest standards of quality, and complete this project within the agreed timeframe. The people of Mashi deserve nothing less than excellence.

To the good people of Mashi Local Government Area, I sincerely appreciate your continued support and cooperation. While there may be temporary inconveniences during construction, I appeal for your patience and understanding. The lasting economic and social benefits of this project will far outweigh any short-term discomfort.

Let me reassure the people of Katsina State that this administration will continue to utilise public resources responsibly, transparently, and prudently. We remain committed to delivering projects that will improve livelihoods, expand economic opportunities, and fulfil the promises of our "Building Your Future Agenda."

With these remarks, and with gratitude to Almighty Allah, I hereby perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the Construction and Dualization of the 3-kilometre Mashi Township Road.
