Distribution of rice donated by the Bank of Industry

It is my honour and privilege to address you today on the occasion of launching the distribution of Rice to 3,850 beneficiaries selected from across the 34 Local Government Area of the State.

Food security is a fundamental human right and the bedrock upon which good and prosperous community is built. As we are all aware, the goal of this programme is to caution the challenges faced by many people in our society have been exacerbated by economic hardships, health crises, and unforeseen disasters.

Yet, countless families within our borders struggle daily to put food on the table. They are our neighbors, our friends, and our fellow citizens. In times of need, it is our collective responsibility to stand together and support one another.

The present administration is committed to ensuring that palliative services are readily available to those in need. We have implemented various programmes such as Ramadan Feeding, Grains Sales at discounted rate, sale and distribution of fertilizer to all the 361 Wards across the State for the 2024 Wet Season among others.

At this juncture, I wish to extend the appreciation of the Government and the entire people of the State to the Management of Bank of Industry for donating food items which will be distributed to over 3,850 beneficiaries including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Widows, Flood Victims, Orphans and other less privilege. I have no doubt that this gesture will forever remain indelible in the hearts of our people. We are indeed most grateful for your efforts.

Similarly, I will not forget to express our appreciation to the Committee assigned to identify the right people to benefit from this gesture as well as organize the flag-off of the programme. I am aware of the sacrifices you are making in order to make the programme a reality.

Let me use this opportunity to call on wealthy individuals and Corporate Organizations to emulate Bank of Industry and implement similar programmes to support governments at the Federal, States and Local Governments in empowering the less privilege people in order to reduce the level of poverty across the Country.

Finally, I wish to pray for your safe trip back to your respective destinations.
